Kolašin 1600
About this mountain
The Kolašin 1600 Ski Center is the first in a planned series of ski resorts on Bjelasica Mountain. Officially opening on February 16th, 2019, it is continuously expanding, with more facilities slated for development in the coming years. Built to the highest international standards, the resort is located 85 kilometers from Podgorica, 12 kilometers from Kolašin, and 2.3 kilometers from the Kolašin 1450 Ski Center. The resort's opening ceremony was marked by the presence of Bojan Križaj, a former Yugoslav skier and one of the world’s top slalom and giant slalom specialists of the ‘80s.
About the Ski Center:
The ski center gets its name from the altitude of the starting point of the six-seated detachable cable car and the base station where the 5-star Troglava 5 restaurant* is located. Restaurant Troglava designed with a modern mountain ambiance, can accommodate up to 400 guests. The menu features traditional Montenegrin dishes prepared in the authentic style of the Bjelasica region. Guests can enjoy fresh mountain air, paired with homemade wine and local products. On the ground floor of the base station, there is a cafe bar offering a selection of hot and cold beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The cafe also features a lower terrace, where music concerts and other cultural events are frequently held.
Ski School and Rentals:
The ski center provides a ski school designed to teach beginners the proper techniques for skiing and snowboarding. Experienced instructors ensure that newcomers understand these sports, helping them to incorporate them into their daily lives. The resort also offers a ski draglift for beginner skiers. Additionally, the ski center has a ski rental shop with a full range of equipment for skiing and snowboarding. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to assist visitors with selecting the right gear and offer expert advice.
Future Development Plans:
In the future, Kolašin 1600 will expand further, with ten hotels and apartment complexes planned for the area near the resort's base. Construction has already begun on the first two hotels. Meanwhile, the Kolašin 1450 Ski Center is currently building four additional hotels. According to the Spatial Plan for Special Purpose for the Bjelasica and Komovi Region, another six hotels and apartment complexes are set to be developed. A major infrastructure project, the Bar-Boljari Highway, specifically the Podgorica-Mateševo section, was completed in July and will significantly improve access to the ski centers. This highway enables visitors to reach the Bjelasica Ski Center region in just 30 minutes from Podgorica or 45 minutes from Podgorica Airport—a vital development for both Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450.
